Weekly Photo Challenge: A Wall to Remember

Weekly photo challenge’s theme for this week is Wall. Wow… it’s tough, challenging, not as simple as at first it came into my mind. It should have a meaning, not only a plain wall. After digging deeper into my collection, I put these pictures as walls to remember

The Wall of Kumari Ghar, Kathmandu, Nepal

Wall separates things and life. It has separated the Living Goddess Kumari in Nepal from the normal world since her early ages, around 4 or 5. But when I heard laughings, the voices of jumping and running of little children, I knew that behind the wall she is living her own ‘mortal’ life.

Sumaksae patterns of the Baekje

I remembered when walked along the Cheonggyecheon Stream where Seoul Lantern Festival was held. I saw these beautiful patterns hanging on the wall under a bridge. Those patterns of Sumaksae, -the type of roof end tiles-, were from Baekje Period. One of The Great Era of South Korea’s Culture and Arts.

Bas Relief of Royal Member in Sewu Temple, Indonesia

Wall is a public place to make remembrance. Like when I saw in Sewu Temple, next to Prambanan as the World Heritage Site in Indonesia, I could see a beautiful bas relief of a royal member who has wide influence in the kingdom around 8th Century.

Angkor Wat’s Basrelief

As a story-teller, I saw a wall with this function in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. The beautiful carvings were made for us to take delights of describing of Ramayana story, an Epic from India.

Wall of Ten Thousands Buddha Temple, Hong Kong

Representing a name. When I looked at the wall of Ten Thousands Buddha temple in Hong Kong, I was so surprised seeing lots of small statues of Buddha on the walls. I did not know the exact number but yes, it might be more than ten thousands.

Puzzled Wall in MadameTussauds Bangkok

Then I saw the puzzled wall in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Bangkok. I enjoyed it. Each square can be rotated to make another picture but I like the Grand Palace in light. It’s reminds me of Bangkok!
