What Will Your Legacy Be?

What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal – Albert Pike

White Lily

What will your legacy be?

What will your legacy be?

Tapi biasanya kita berpikir… ah masih jauh, masih lama…

Live the way you want to be remembered.

Jadi, What will your legacy be?

WPC – Autumn Leaves On The Trunk

Leaves on A Trunk

In Fall, leaves are so brilliant with the colors of gold and red. We can cup them in our hands, look at them and feel amazed at their beauty. But only one or two leaves are just left on the tree trunk. Becoming the last leaves.

Eventually they become brown, crumbling, scattered by the wind, gone and forgotten forever.

But the tree still remains. The tree itself is what is important. Still lives on, without any leaves.

It is a difficult knowledge to bear and an even more difficult life to live. But no other options because life must go on. It is difficult, but it doesn’t mean can not be done.

~~~
I seek truth and beauty in the transparency of an autumn leaf,
in the perfect form of a seashell on the beach,
in the curve of a woman’s back,
in the texture of an ancient tree trunk,
but also in the elusive forms of reality
WPC – A Tunnel Of Dense Plants
Tunnel of a dense plants
Being born and living in most of my life with Asian culture, I did not have many high expectations when I took a half day tour using a dragon shaped boat in Perfume river that crosses the city of Huế, Central Vietnam. Especially when the tour guide said that we would stop at a typical house of Vietnamese in the bank of the river. What would I see from a traditional house in Vietnam? It would not have significant differences to other houses in Asia. Perhaps it was one of my judging assumptions after being a victim of several low categorized scams during my trip in Vietnam.
But, I was totally wrong!
The entrance of the house made me amazed. It was a lane through a tunnel made by dense plumeria trees that welcomed me before stepping further into the inner yard of the house. A green tunnel of plants’ leaves is common but what I saw was a tunnel made of the trees’ branches and twigs with no leaves. Something rare but worth to be seen which left a nice mark in my heart.
It was a lesson learnt for me not to judge a destination whatever I have experienced previously. Live the present moment! And perhaps the following words will be perfect for that circumstance,
There is no darkness so dense, so menacing or so difficult that is cannot be overcome by light – Vern P Stanfill
WPC – Magic of Nature
Autumn Leaves in Deoksugung
Autumn Leaves in Deoksugung
After seeing the procession of changing guards in one of the famous South Korean palaces in Seoul, Deoksugung, I walked on the path behind the gate. I was amazed by the magic of nature there as the leaves on trees were changing from green to yellow, some to red. No wonder, it was early November. For me Autumn season is a wondrous time since as a tropical person I used to have only  summer and rainy season.
Everywhere we look, complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes – Vincent Van Gogh
The magic on the trees reminded me of the eternity of change. As the leaves change, so do we. With the changing seasons comes new beginnings. We all change colors and lose our leaves, but after that we bloom again…
WPC – Be The Candle or The Mirror…
Krathong, -a container with candle inside-, floated on river
Passing years by years, I feel that life is so beautiful, decorated with lots of ups and downs, cheers and tears, sometimes smooth and easy then heavy burdens color the days but we should not to give up. We are not here to curse the darkness but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness.
And when we are in the dark I believe that a single candle can defy and define the darkness. It is small flame but enough to give light.
But I remember the nice words from Rumi. Being a candle is not easy, in order to give light one must first burn. I cannot imagine how hard to live like a candle which burns itself to give light to others. It is definitely true, it’s not as easy as said. But there is an option as Edith Wharton said,
There are two ways of spreading light, …. to be the Candle, or the Mirror that reflects it.
A mirror or similar things that has the same function to reflect the light.
But please remember being a mirror requires many things that are not easy as well. At the end, the choice is in our own hands.
WPC – A Jubilant Front Flip
Jubilant Front Flip
Jubilant Front Flip
While the parents were chit-chatting near the swimming pool,  my nephew was plucked up his courage and suddenly he did a jubilant front flip in front of his parents’ eyes. My heart missed a beat because he did it near the edge of the pool, but I believed he had measured the distance…  And see his big smile….
Life is too short to be cynical. So smile, dare to believe and leave the door open for magic
In response to the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge with the topic of Jubilant
From Eleanor Roosevelt
Many people will walk in and out of  your life,
But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
       To handle yourself, use your head;
To  handle others, use your heart.
Anger is only one letter short of  danger.
If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault
Great minds discuss  ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds  discuss people.
He who loses money, loses much;
He, who loses a friend, loses much more;
He, who loses faith, loses  all.
Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,
But  beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from  the mistakes of others.
You can’t live long enough to make them  all  yourself.
Friends, you and me….You brought another friend….And then there were 3.
We started our group…. Our circle of  friends….
And like that circle….There is no beginning  or end..
Yesterday is  history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift.
(Eleanor Roosevelt)
