Be Careful!

It was the automatic words came out from my local guide when he saw me sitting easily on the edge of the cliff with feet hanging in the air. His face expressed the fear that I might fall down. But slowly he accepted the fact that I was more insane than he thought hahaha…


At that time I enjoyed being the only tourist at Prasat Preah Vihear, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern part of Cambodia. It’s a very remote temple with limited access compared to the majestic Angkor Wat complex. And not only that. For making it worse, at that time, Prasat Preah Vihear was still in conflict zone, a true military clash could be happened at any time.

Well, for a temple-lover like me, it’s really a challenge. I did a quick research about the safety before visiting the 11th century Hindu temple which is located in the disputed area. But finally my dream to see the temple and the beautiful scenery from the Dangrek Mountains wins over the lengthy dispute. I had to go there.

And after walking around the temple, seeing the holes on temple walls because of the previous line of fires and military clash, then I sat on the edge of 600 meters cliff with feet hanging in the air, and not only that, I watched the sunset there…
