One morning, I was in Sewu Temple, a Buddhist temple that is located adjacent to Prambanan temple, around 15 kilometers from Jogjakarta, Indonesia. There I enjoyed every second without the presence of other visitors, with the beautiful scenery of Mount Merapi in the background. The main temple was beautifully standing with thousands of stones scattered in chaos.
But that’s the interesting part as I believe. There’s always calm in the midst of chaos, love in the midst of hate, and hope in the midst of despair. I could see in front of me the form of order and chaos, the nice buildings and the scattered stones of the temple. Although it’s easy to say but from the scattered stones we can build the beautiful buildings. From the chaos we can simplify to create beauty. Again, perhaps it’s not immediate but its time will come.
As Donna Karan said once,
It’s all about finding the calm in the chaos
